ContentWarning: Draft
Put the user first
Use familiar, everyday language. Focus on readability. All copy should be useful and relevant to user goals. Avoid leading users away from tasks to learn more.
Stay out of the way
Think less-is-more and write for scanning. The next step should always be clear. Avoid pop-ups, distractions, and walls of text.
Follow our tone and voice
Steer clear of jargon and soulless computer-speak. Keep things conversational, positive, and inclusive. Find space for fun (without being annoying!).
Look at the bigger picture
Check how copy fits with the product experience as a whole. Is it where it needs to be? Is something missing? Strive for consistency and predictability.
Write for an international audience
Keep localisation in mind. If you are working on something that may be understood differently by different cultures, ensure context is provided to the localisation team.
Most languages are longer than English, so try to keep copy as concise as possible, especially for buttons, headlines and distracting elements such as tooltips.
*What is product content?
Product content is everything that helps users or potential users understand Pleo and contextualise how it would fit into their lives.
Product content is for the conversation with users inside our product (UI), and should convey meaning with as few words as possible, while still offering a bit of personality and brand character according to our tone and voice.
If you have requests or questions about content, feel free to add a ticket to our content design request board.
